Makerere University Business School (MUBS) is one of Uganda's leading business education institutions, located in Nakawa, Kampala. The MUBS Health Services Center provides healthcare services to students, staff and the surrounding community.

The Health Services Center is currently looking for a suitably qualified Part Time Medical Officer to join the team.

About the Role

The Part Time Medical Officer will provide medical consultation, diagnosis and treatment services at the MUBS Health Services Center. The role is designed for medical professionals who are available for limited hours and want a flexible part-time engagement in an academic institution setting.

Working Hours

• No more than 60 or 80 hours per month, at the discretion of the HR Department
• The exact number of hours will be determined based on the needs of the Health Center and the availability of the successful candidate

Salary

• Competitive remuneration at approximately UGX 31,000 per hour
• For 60 hours per month this equates to approximately UGX 1,860,000 per month
• For 80 hours per month this equates to approximately UGX 2,480,000 per month

Key Responsibilities

• Provide medical consultation, diagnosis and treatment to patients presenting at the Health Services Center
• Take patient histories, conduct physical examinations and order relevant investigations
• Prescribe appropriate medications and treatment plans
• Refer patients to specialists or higher-level facilities when cases exceed the scope of the health center
• Provide health education and preventive care advice to patients
• Maintain accurate and confidential patient medical records and files
• Participate in health promotion and wellness activities within the MUBS community
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control standards
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid as required
• Collaborate with other health staff at the center to ensure quality service delivery
• Advise the administration on health-related policies and student wellness matters

Qualifications and Requirements

• MBChB degree from a recognised institution
• Must be registered with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council (UMDPC)
• Valid practising licence
• Experience in general medical practice is preferred
• Good clinical skills and ability to work independently
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to handle a wide range of general medical conditions
• Knowledge of student health issues is an added advantage
