Medical Officer

St. Joseph's Hospital Kitovu, located in Masaka, is hiring Medical Officers to join our clinical team. There are 2 open positions.

About the role

Medical Officers will be at the heart of patient care at the hospital, working across the outpatient department, inpatient wards and emergency care. You will diagnose and treat patients, conduct ward rounds, perform clerking and patient management, and assist with emergency and referral cases. You will work alongside nurses, clinical officers and other health workers, and contribute to the safe, professional delivery of care to every patient who walks through our doors.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat patients in OPD, inpatient and emergency departments
• Conduct ward rounds, clerking and patient management
• Manage and follow up admitted patients, including emergency and referral cases
• Supervise and support nurses, clinical officers and other health workers
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and compile reports
• Participate in health education and health promotion activities
• Uphold professional standards, infection prevention and patient safety

Job specifications

• Must have MBChB
• Registered with Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
• Aged above 25 years
