Enrolled Midwife (1 Position)

Hospital background Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital (MRRH) is a major public referral and teaching hospital in Mbarara City, Western Uganda. It is the principal referral centre for the western region and serves as the teaching hospital for the Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) Faculty of Medicine. Alongside its public services, the hospital operates a private wing offering specialised and timely care.

About the role The private wing at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill one (1) Enrolled Midwife post. The midwife will provide quality antenatal, labour, delivery and postnatal care to mothers and newborns in the private wing.

Key responsibilities - Provide antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care to mothers and newborns - Conduct safe deliveries and manage labour in line with hospital protocols - Monitor maternal and newborn wellbeing and respond to complications - Provide health education on maternal, newborn and child health - Maintain accurate maternal and newborn records - Collaborate with nurses, midwives and doctors on patient care

Qualifications and requirements - Certificate in Midwifery from a recognised institution - Registration with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC) with a valid practising licence - Compassionate, patient-centred approach and good communication skills - Ability to work shifts, including nights, weekends and public holidays
