Hospital background Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital (MRRH) is a major public referral and teaching hospital in Mbarara City, Western Uganda. It is the principal referral centre for the western region and serves as the teaching hospital for the Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) Faculty of Medicine. Alongside its public services, the hospital operates a private wing offering specialised and timely care.

About the role The private wing at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill three (3) Assistant Nursing Officer (Nursing) posts. Assistant Nursing Officers provide comprehensive nursing care and support day-to-day ward operations in the private wing.

Key responsibilities - Provide comprehensive nursing care and monitor patient progress - Administer medications, treatments and nursing procedures as prescribed - Prepare patients for procedures and support doctors during ward rounds - Supervise and guide enrolled nurses and nursing students - Maintain accurate nursing records and patient documentation - Ensure infection prevention and patient safety standards are upheld

Qualifications and requirements - Diploma in Nursing from a recognised institution - Registration with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC) with a valid practising licence - Strong clinical, organisational and leadership skills - Ability to work shifts, including nights, weekends and public holidays
