Medical Laboratory Technician (2 Positions)

Hospital background Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital (MRRH) is a major public referral and teaching hospital in Mbarara City, Western Uganda. It is the principal referral centre for the western region and serves as the teaching hospital for the Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) Faculty of Medicine. Alongside its public services, the hospital operates a private wing offering specialised and timely care.

About the role The private wing at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill two (02) Medical Laboratory Technician posts. The technicians will perform laboratory investigations that support accurate diagnosis and treatment in the private wing.

Key responsibilities - Collect, receive and process patient samples for laboratory testing - Perform haematology, biochemistry, microbiology and other routine investigations - Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and ensure quality control - Prepare reagents and manage laboratory stock and supplies - Record and report test results accurately and promptly - Follow infection prevention and biosafety protocols

Qualifications and requirements - Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognised institution - Registration with the Allied Health Professionals Council with a valid practising licence - Strong attention to detail and commitment to laboratory quality standards - Good communication and teamwork skills
