Quality Officer

NovaCare Medical Hub — Health Beyond Limits, located on Plot 2A, 2nd Hospital Close, TASO Village, Mbarara City, is hiring a Quality Officer for its laboratory.

About the role

This is the person who makes NovaCare's diagnostic-led care trustworthy: as Quality Officer you will own the laboratory's journey toward and beyond ISO 15189:2022 accreditation — writing and enforcing the quality management system, running internal audits, coordinating External Quality Assessment (EQA) schemes, and training bench staff until quality becomes habit rather than paperwork.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain an ISO 15189:2022-compliant laboratory quality management system
• Coordinate lab accreditation processes with accrediting bodies
• Manage participation in EQA schemes and track performance
• Conduct internal audits, non-conformance investigations and corrective actions
• Monitor equipment calibration, reagent lot verification and pre-analytical/post-analytical quality indicators
• Train and mentor laboratory staff on quality standards and documentation

Requirements

• Master's degree in MLS from a recognized institution
• Valid practicing licence/registration with the AHPC
• Minimum 2-3 years' experience in a clinical laboratory setting
• Working knowledge of ISO 15189:2022 quality management systems
• Experience with lab accreditation processes and EQA schemes
