Physician

Shalom Medical Center, a healthcare facility based in Kawempe-Kazo, Kampala, is recruiting a qualified and experienced Physician to provide comprehensive medical consultations, diagnosis, treatment and management of adult patients presenting with a wide range of medical conditions. The Physician will provide outpatient specialist services while practising independently through the medical centre.

About the role This position operates on a Business Partner / Consultant arrangement. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality outpatient physician services at Shalom Medical Centre, Kawempe-Kazo, Kampala, managing a diverse caseload of acute and chronic conditions and working flexibly around patient appointments. The role offers an experienced physician the opportunity to practise independently within an established medical centre while serving the health needs of the local community.

Key responsibilities - Conduct comprehensive medical consultations and physical examinations. - Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions. - Develop individualised treatment and management plans. - Prescribe medications and monitor treatment outcomes. - Request and interpret laboratory and diagnostic investigations. - Refer patients to other specialists when necessary. - Maintain accurate and confidential patient medical records. - Provide health education and preventive care counselling. - Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals. - Ensure compliance with professional, ethical and regulatory standards.

Qualifications and requirements - Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB/MBBS) or equivalent. - Postgraduate qualification in Internal Medicine or a related specialty. - A valid practising licence. - Registration with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council (UMDPC). - Must be actively practising as a Physician.

Skills and competencies The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong competencies in clinical diagnosis and patient management, evidence-based medical practice, critical thinking and decision-making, patient communication and counselling, professional ethics and integrity, and medical documentation.

Working arrangement This is a Business Partner / Consultant arrangement with a flexible consultation schedule based on patient appointments. The Physician will consult and manage patients from Shalom Medical Centre, Kawempe-Kazo, Kampala, and is expected to maintain the highest professional, ethical and regulatory standards.
