Busitema University invites applications for a full-time Medical Officer to provide medical consultations, routine treatment and emergency care for students and staff, to liaise with health service providers, ensure emergency medicines are available and promote preventive care across its multi-campus network in Eastern Uganda.

## About the role Busitema University is a multi-campus public university located in Eastern Uganda. Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacant position of Medical Officer at the University. The Medical Officer will provide medical services to the university community, ensuring that students and staff have access to quality healthcare within a campus setting.

This full-time position sits within the University's health services and plays a key role in safeguarding the health and wellbeing of the campus community. The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day clinical care, emergency response and preventive health initiatives across the University's campuses. As a public university serving a large and growing student and staff community in Eastern Uganda, the role offers a varied clinical caseload and the opportunity to contribute to the health of the next generation of professionals.

The Medical Officer will work within the University health facility and will be expected to handle both routine consultations and emergencies, while also taking a proactive approach to prevention and health promotion. The role requires close liaison with hospitals and other healthcare providers to ensure that patients receive appropriate care, including referrals and follow-up where necessary.

## Key responsibilities - Attending to medical consultations for students and staff; - Providing routine medical treatment and emergency care; - Liaising with hospitals and healthcare service providers to ensure continuity of care; - Ensuring the availability of emergency medicines at the health facility; - Imparting preventive care and health education to the university community; - Maintaining accurate medical records and preparing health reports; - Supporting health promotion campaigns and disease prevention activities on campus.

## Qualifications, skills and experience Applicants should hold a Bachelor's degree in Medicine and Surgery or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
