Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program (Uganda)

## About the program The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program is a Fulbright exchange sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and administered by the Institute of International Education (IIE). Established in 1978, it brings influential mid-career professionals from priority countries — including Uganda — to the United States for a 10-month, non-degree programme of academic study, professional development, and cultural exchange. Humphrey Fellows do not pursue a degree; instead they design a self-defined programme of independent study and professional engagement at a U.S. host university, selected from approximately 7 host institutions.

## What it offers The program is fully funded by the U.S. Government and covers: tuition and fees at the assigned host university; a maintenance (living) allowance, including a one-time settling-in allowance; accident and sickness coverage; a book allowance; a one-time computer subsidy; air travel to and from the U.S.; and a Professional Development allowance for activities such as field trips, professional visits and conferences. Core components include a six-week Professional Affiliation (PA) with a U.S.-based organization, the Humphrey Seminar, the Global Leadership Forum in Washington, D.C., and professional-development workshops. Fellows join a global alumni network of more than 7,000 leaders, including heads of state, judges and senior officials.

## Eligibility - Citizen of an eligible country (Uganda confirmed) - Undergraduate (Bachelor's) degree - Minimum of five years of full-time professional experience - Demonstrated leadership and a record of public service - Limited prior experience in the United States - Demonstrated English language ability
