MISH — Managing Innovation for Sustainable Health Training Program

About the programme Managing Innovation for Sustainable Health (MISH) is an online training programme designed for managers working in the health sector in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Uganda and Somalia. The programme is aimed at strengthening participants' ability, as managers, to ensure good health and well-being by working with a more holistic, evidence-based, collaborative and innovative approach.

The programme responds to the growing need for health managers who can lead teams and health services through complex and fast-changing environments. Health systems in the participating countries face a range of pressures — from limited resources and workforce constraints to the need to adopt new technologies and approaches — and strong management is central to ensuring that services reach the people who need them. Programme structure and format MISH is delivered as an online training programme, allowing participants to continue their professional responsibilities while building their management capacity. The programme period runs from 2 September 2024 to 30 May 2025, offering a sustained period of structured learning, practical application and peer exchange with health managers from across the three participating countries. The online format means participants can engage with the material flexibly, while the programme's structure ensures continuity, progression and meaningful collaboration with other managers facing similar challenges.

What you will gain Participants will strengthen their management competencies in key areas including holistic and evidence-based decision making, collaborative leadership, and innovation for sustainable health systems. The programme is designed for practical application, enabling managers to immediately apply new approaches, tools and mindsets in their own health facilities, programmes and institutions. Eligibility The programme is open to managers based in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Uganda or Somalia who are seeking to strengthen their capacity to manage for good health and well-being. The programme is relevant to managers across the health sector, including those working in public, private and non-governmental settings. No academic qualifications are specified, as the programme focuses on practical management capacity and is open to managers at various levels of experience.
