Around 80 full-cost scholarships per year covering fees, maintenance, airfare and family allowance for master's and PhD study. Applications reopen September 2026 for 2027/28 entry; deadlines are December 8, 2026 or January 6, 2027 depending on course.
Gates Cambridge is one of the world's most competitive postgraduate scholarships, selecting on outstanding academic achievement, choice of course, commitment to social leadership and fit with Cambridge. About two-thirds of awards go to PhD candidates. Applicants apply for admission and funding simultaneously through the University's Graduate Application Portal, completing the dedicated Gates Cambridge funding section with a research/proposal statement and Gates reference. Applications open in September 2026; all non-US applicants follow course-dependent deadlines of either Tuesday 8 December 2026 or Wednesday 6 January 2027, with outcomes by December 2026 or March 2027 respectively.
