Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships (UK)

## About the scholarship The Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarship is one of three Master's programmes offered by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK (CSC), funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). It enables talented individuals from eligible low- and middle-income Commonwealth countries — and Uganda is on the official eligible-country list — to undertake a part-time taught Master's degree with a UK university while remaining in their home country (studying at a distance). It is a distinct scheme from the standard 'Commonwealth Scholarships (Uganda)' master's/PhD awards (administered via the national nominating agency through Uganda MoES): the Distance Learning award has its own separate application route through the CSC's online application system and is aimed at people who cannot travel to the UK.

## What it covers A Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarship covers tuition fees and study grants where required, for a part-time Master's course at a participating UK university. Because study is at a distance, scholars remain in their home country (no UK travel or living costs). Other scholarships covering the same costs may not be held concurrently, and universities may require evidence of English proficiency.

## Eligibility - Citizen of, or granted refugee status by, an eligible Commonwealth country (Uganda is listed), or a British Protected Person - Permanently resident in a developing Commonwealth country (Uganda qualifies) - First degree of at least upper second class (2:1) standard; a lower qualification with sufficient relevant experience may be considered in certain cases - Unable to afford to study without the scholarship - Only for Master's courses (not undergraduate or PhD), studied part-time by distance learning, under one of the six CSC development themes

## How to apply Secure admission to an approved UK Master's course, then apply for the scholarship via the CSC online application system (cscuk.fcdo.gov.uk) during the autumn window, uploading transcripts, references and proof of citizenship.
