We are currently seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Deputy Principal to join our leadership team.

About the Role

The Deputy Principal plays a critical leadership role within the institute. Reporting directly to the Principal, the Deputy Principal will share responsibility for the overall academic, administrative and operational management of the institution. This is an opportunity for an experienced nursing or midwifery educator to shape the future of health education at a growing institution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Principal in the overall academic, administrative and operational management of the institution
  • Support curriculum development, implementation and quality assurance processes
  • Oversee teaching and learning activities across all programmes
  • Promote student discipline, welfare and professional ethics
  • Foster partnerships with healthcare facilities, professional bodies and other stakeholders to support institutional growth
  • Contribute to strategic planning and policy development
  • Supervise and evaluate teaching staff and support continuous professional development
  • Ensure compliance with National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) standards and UNMC requirements
  • Represent the institute at conferences, workshops and stakeholder meetings
  • Participate in student recruitment, admissions and mentorship programmes

Qualifications

Applicants must meet ONE of the following qualification sets:

  1. Degree in nursing or midwifery AND a postgraduate diploma in medical education
  2. Diploma in nursing/midwifery AND a bachelor's degree in medical education

Experience

  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in nursing or midwifery education
  • Prior experience in academic management or institutional leadership is an added advantage

Registration

  • Must be registered with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC)
  • Must hold a valid practising licence

Qualifications
