Citadel Conference Travel Grant 2026: Fully Funded Conference Travel Support for STEM Students

International conferences are where STEM careers take off — but registration, flights and accommodation are usually out of reach for Ugandan students. The Citadel Conference Travel Grant removes that barrier for promising science and engineering students.

What it is

The Citadel Conference Travel Grant is a fully funded opportunity that helps STEM students present their research at leading academic and industry conferences around the world. It is run by Citadel as part of its commitment to developing early-career quantitative talent.

What the grant covers

• Conference registration or a full-access pass
• Round-trip airfare
• Accommodation for the conference dates
• Airport transportation
• A food stipend
• Invitations to Citadel-hosted dinners and recruitment events

Who can apply

• Students in mathematics, computer science, physics, statistics, electrical engineering and other quantitative disciplines
• Applicants with a paper or poster accepted for presentation at an eligible conference (for example NeurIPS 2026 or the Grace Hopper Celebration 2026)
• In-person presenters — remote or purely virtual presentations are not eligible

Why it matters for Ugandans

For Ugandan students, this grant is a rare shot at the global research stage. Presenting at a major conference lets you meet potential PhD supervisors, connect with industry mentors and put your university on the international map — without asking your family to fund international travel.

How to apply

Choose an eligible conference, confirm your accepted presentation, then apply through the official Citadel programme for that conference before its own deadline (the NeurIPS 2026 deadline is 5 October 2026).
