HSR2026, the 9th Global Symposium on Health Systems Research, is organised by Health Systems Global (HSG), the membership society for health systems and policy researchers worldwide.

## About this conference The symposium runs December 7-9, 2026 in Cairo, Egypt, hosted by The American University in Cairo (AUC), under the theme "Future-Focused Health Systems in a Changing World." Held every two years, HSR convenes researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to review evidence on global health systems, strengthen research methods and rigour, and build collaboration across disciplines, sectors, and countries. For Ugandan health systems researchers and policymakers, HSR2026 is one of the few truly global venues dedicated specifically to health systems and policy research, rather than a single disease area, making it directly relevant to strengthening Uganda's own health system.

## How to register or submit Abstract submission for HSR2026 is now closed for all three session types. Presenters could submit individual session abstracts (10-minute oral or poster/lightning-talk format, up to a 3,000-character abstract and 750-character summary), organised sessions (60- or 90-minute panels with up to 8 contributors), or capacity-strengthening sessions (with defined learning outcomes and post-conference outputs).
