Fully-funded one- or two-year Master's scholarships at Swedish universities for professionals from designated countries including Uganda, covering many English-taught programmes including medicine and public health, plus a monthly allowance and travel grant. Runs annually, study applications typically open mid-October.

The Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals (SISGP) fund citizens of 34 low- and middle-income countries, including Uganda, to complete a full-time master's degree in Sweden.

## About this scholarship SISGP is a Swedish government scholarship programme aimed at building global leadership with a lasting connection to Sweden. It targets professionals who already have work and leadership experience and are pursuing further study to strengthen their impact in their home country or region, while also joining the SI Network for Global Professionals (NFGP).

## Who can apply - Applicants must be citizens of one of 34 eligible countries, including Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Nigeria and South Africa, among others. - Applicants must apply for, and be eligible for, a full-time master's programme in Sweden that is on the SI-approved list. - Applicants must have around 3,000 hours (roughly two years) of relevant work experience. - Applicants must demonstrate leadership experience, from an employer or through civil society engagement. - Applicants must be liable to pay tuition fees at Swedish universities (i.e. non-EU/EEA students). - Applicants are not eligible if they already hold a Swedish degree, have lived in Sweden for two years or more before August 2026, have previously received an SI scholarship, or hold Swedish, EU or EEA citizenship or a Sweden/EU-tied residence permit.

## What it covers - Full tuition fees, paid directly by SI to the Swedish university each semester. - A monthly living allowance of SEK 12,000. - A one-time travel grant of SEK 15,000 (not paid to applicants already living in Sweden). - Membership in the SI Network for Global Professionals (NFGP).

## How to apply Applicants must first hold, or be applying for, admission to an eligible full-time master's programme in Sweden (2026 admission round deadline: 15 January 2026), then submit a separate SI scholarship application during the designated scholarship application window.

Eligibility

Citizens of one of 34 eligible countries (including Uganda) applying for a full-time SI-approved master's programme in Sweden, with about 3,000 hours of relevant work experience and demonstrated leadership experience; must be liable for tuition fees as a non-EU/EEA student, with no prior Swedish degree, SI scholarship, or extended residence in Sweden.
