UVRI, a Ministry of Health / WHO collaborating research institute in Entebbe, has run a competitive annual internship (with partners incl. MRC/UVRI, CDC, Rakai Health Sciences, IAVI) for second/third-year science students. Exact application windows are not published online; contact UVRI's Training department to confirm timing.
The Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) is Uganda's national institute for virus and infectious disease research, based in Entebbe under the Ministry of Health. UVRI has run internship placements since 2008, hosting over 1,200 interns to date across its laboratories and research-support functions.
## About this internship UVRI places around 100 interns a year, roughly 55% in laboratory work (basic science and clinical) and 45% in research-support roles (administration and IT). For its standard June-August intake, the cycle runs: slot announcements in March, selection and notification in April, reporting by June, submission of a research abstract in July, and an oral presentation with feedback and certification in August. Initial placements last 3 months, extendable to 6 months.

## What you get - A certificate on completion, following an oral presentation of your internship work - A modest stipend under the extended internship scheme; PWD interns receive a small stipend for their 6-month placement
