Fully-funded postgraduate scholarship at Oxford, one awarded per year for the East Africa constituency (Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan, Burundi); applicants must be 18-24. Not health-specific but open to medicine, nursing and public health applicants. This cycle's window closes 27 August 2026.

The Rhodes Scholarship is one of the oldest and most prestigious international postgraduate awards in the world, funding full-time study at the University of Oxford. The Rhodes Trust runs a dedicated constituency for East Africa, covering Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan and Burundi (Kenyan applicants apply separately through the Rhodes Scholarship for Kenya).

## About this scholarship Founded from Cecil Rhodes' 1902 will, the Rhodes Scholarship funds exceptional young people from around the world to pursue postgraduate study at Oxford. Scholars are selected for academic excellence, character, leadership and commitment to service, and join a global community of Rhodes Scholars across all fields of study.

## Who can apply - Applicants must be a citizen of, or have significant ties to, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan or Burundi. - Applicants must be aged 18-24 as of 1 October 2026. - Applicants must hold, or be completing, a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) at the time of application. - Selection committees look for academic excellence broadly equivalent to First Class Honours or a GPA of at least 3.7/4.0. - The proposed Oxford course of study must fall within the Rhodes Trust's Conditions of Tenure.

## What it covers - University and college fees at Oxford. - A personal stipend (£20,400 per year / £1,700 per month, as of the 2025-26 rate). - Two economy-class flights to and from the UK, at the start and end of the scholarship. - The Oxford application fee, student visa fee and Immigration Health Surcharge.

## How to apply Applicants submit an online application together with a CV (Rhodes Trust template provided), supported by referees who follow the "Guidance for Referees - East Africa" document. Full instructions are set out in the "Information for Candidates - East Africa" document on the Rhodes Trust website.
