In-House Emergency Medicine Physician

Nakasero Hospital is seeking a skilled and compassionate Emergency Medicine Physician to join our Accident & Emergency (A&E) unit. This role provides prompt, high-quality, and compassionate clinical care to patients presenting to Nakasero Hospital's A&E unit and other departments.

Position: In-House Emergency Medicine Physician

Job Purpose: The Emergency Medicine Physician provides prompt, high-quality, and compassionate clinical care to patients presenting to Nakasero Hospital's Accident & Emergency (A&E) unit and other departments. The role is responsible for rapid assessment, triage, stabilization, treatment and appropriate referral or admission of patients across the full spectrum of medical, surgical, obstetric, and pediatric and trauma emergencies.

Responsibilities: - Assess, resuscitate and stabilize clinical emergencies - Participate in diagnosis, treatment, and perform emergency procedures - Immediate management and transfer of critically ill patients to critical care units - Consultation and coordination of MDT in emergency care services - Clinical leadership, teaching and supervision in the emergency unit - Disposition, continuity of care and patient communication - Deputize for the HOD and provide leadership and oversight of departmental clinical, administrative, and operational activities - Ensure timely communication, documentation, and reporting - Observe patient-and-family-centered care, ethics, and medical-legal compliance

Qualifications: - Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) - Master of Medicine in Emergency Medicine (MMed EM) - Fully licensed by the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council (UMDPC) - ATLS, ACLS Certifications - Experience in critical care is an added advantage - Minimum of one (1) year experience as EM Specialist
