The Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC), the profession's regulatory body under the Ministry of Health, seeks a fresher Education and Registration Officer based in Kampala to implement education, training and registration standards, plan professional development and support the pre-licensure examination process.

The Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC) is a semi-autonomous Health Professional Regulatory and Supervisory body under the Ministry of Health, established by the Nurses and Midwives Act, 1996 (CAP 274), with the mandate to regulate the standards of the nursing and midwifery professions in Uganda for public safety. UNMC is seeking an Education and Registration Officer to implement the education, training and registration standards of nurses and midwives. About the role Based in Kampala, the Education and Registration Officer will support the Council's regulatory function by coordinating training and development activities, providing technical guidance to training institutions, and contributing to the assessment and registration processes that safeguard professional standards across the nursing and midwifery workforce. Key duties and responsibilities - Interpret training and development-related policies and procedures. - Draft training and development plans and programs in line with identified needs. - Provide technical support in assessing the capacity of nursing and midwifery training institutions. - Provide technical guidance in the review of curriculum and training programs. - Organise and implement training programs, workshops, attachments and study tours to develop the capacity of nurses and midwives. - Monitor and evaluate activities to assess the impact of training and adherence to set standards and procedures. - Prepare and submit periodic reports on training activities, with recommendations for improvement, continuous learning and best practice documentation. - Set test items for online pre-licensure examinations and interviews. - Collect and analyse research data on best practices in education, training and registration. Qualifications, skills and experience - A Bachelor's degree in either Nursing or Midwifery, with a diploma in health tutorship or medical education from a recognised university or institution. - Registration with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council with a valid practising license. - At least 2 years of working experience as a Nursing Officer or Health Tutor level from a recognised nursing or health training institution. Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Midwifery with a diploma in health tutorship or medical education from a recognised institution
