CFLI funds small, high-impact projects (typically CAD ~20,000-50,000) designed and delivered by local organizations. The next Uganda call is expected around December 2026 - February 2027 based on previous cycles; monitor official channels.

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives finances modest-sized projects conceived and implemented by local civil society, with priorities spanning inclusive governance, gender equality, peace and security, inclusive growth, environmental action, and human dignity (covering health, education and nutrition). Ugandan health NGOs have historically accessed the fund through calls managed by the High Commission of Canada, most recently the FY2025-26 call which offered grants of CAD 20,000-50,000. As of August 23, 2026, the 2026/27 Uganda call has not yet launched; interested organizations should monitor the CFLI index page and High Commission channels and prepare project concepts in advance.

Eligibility

Local NGOs, community groups, non-profits, academic institutions implementing projects in Uganda; projects must align with Canadian thematic priorities including health under 'human dignity' and gender equality.
