A lifelong fellowship for the region's most impactful social entrepreneurs — Ashoka East Africa serves Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania, electing system-changing founders into a global network of 4,000+ Fellows.
## About the program The Ashoka Fellowship is the world's oldest and largest network of leading social entrepreneurs. Ashoka East Africa, founded in 2001, is the youngest of Ashoka's Africa programs and serves Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania, with more than 100 elected Fellows in the region. Ashoka's mission is to build an 'Everyone a Changemaker' world by selecting and supporting world-class social entrepreneurs who develop pattern-breaking solutions to pressing social problems and change systems at scale.
## What it offers Being elected an Ashoka Fellow is a lifelong affiliation. Ashoka directly invests resources in fellowship engagements with its Fellows, connecting them to a global network of more than 4,000 Fellows across 90+ countries. Fellows gain access to Ashoka's community of peers, funding partners, corporate allies, and platform-building opportunities, as well as regional convenings and the annual Ashoka Africa Fellows Summit. Ashoka does not publicly state a standard cash stipend for Fellows; the value lies in the network, credibility and institutional support, with the support package determined on a case-by-case basis.
## Eligibility - Leading social entrepreneurs with pattern-breaking, system-changing solutions and a demonstrated track record - Because Ashoka East Africa serves Uganda, Ugandan social entrepreneurs are eligible for election - No open application — candidates are identified through Ashoka's sourcing and nominations
## How to apply There is no open application. Interested Ugandan entrepreneurs should be recommended via Ashoka's 'Recommend a Changemaker' form or reach out to the Ashoka East Africa team (Nairobi) to make themselves known to the venture-sourcing team.
