Kampala Hospital is one of Uganda's leading specialist healthcare institutions, committed to delivering exceptional patient care. The hospital is now hiring a Phlebotomist to join its team in Kampala.

The Phlebotomist will be responsible for collecting and preparing patient samples, performing laboratory procedures, maintaining laboratory quality standards and ensuring accurate documentation in line with established protocols and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).

This is a full-time position within a modern, patient-centred specialist hospital. The successful candidate will work as part of a professional, multidisciplinary team, supporting clinicians and patients across the hospital. The role is essential to diagnostic services: accurate sample collection and preparation directly underpin reliable laboratory results and safe patient care.

The Phlebotomist acts as a key link between patients and the laboratory. Beyond technical skill, the role demands a calm and reassuring manner with patients, meticulous attention to labelling, handling and documentation, and strict adherence to infection prevention and safety standards at all times.

Key responsibilities

• Collecting and preparing patient samples.
• Performing laboratory procedures.
• Maintaining laboratory quality standards.
• Ensuring accurate documentation in line with established protocols and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).

Beyond these core duties, the Phlebotomist will interact closely with patients, helping to make sample collection a calm, professional and reassuring experience. The successful candidate will follow established protocols for sample identification, collection, handling, storage and transport, report any discrepancies promptly, and maintain the laboratory's quality and safety standards. Minimum requirements

• Certificate in Medical Laboratory Science.
• At least one (1) year of working experience in a hospital laboratory.
• Registration with the Allied Health Professionals' Council.
• Valid Annual Practising Licence.
• Excellent communication, organizational and teamwork skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to laboratory quality and safety standards.
