About the role The Ibanda District Local Government, through the Ibanda District Service Commission, invites applications from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill the vacant post of Laboratory Assistant under External and Internal Job Advert No. 01/2026 of August 1, 2026. The position exists within Ibanda District Local Government and Ibanda Municipal Council.

The Laboratory Assistant will support the delivery of diagnostic services within the district health facilities by collecting samples, conducting basic tests and ensuring the laboratory operates safely and efficiently. This full-time position plays a key role in supporting accurate diagnosis and treatment in the community.

Working under the supervision of laboratory technologists and officers, the Laboratory Assistant will help ensure that diagnostic services are reliable, timely and well-documented. The role requires attention to detail, adherence to laboratory safety standards, and a commitment to maintaining the quality of samples, reagents and records, all of which are essential for correct diagnosis and effective patient care.

Key responsibilities Collecting patient samples and conducting basic diagnostic tests; Preparing specimens for analysis; Maintaining laboratory records and documentation; Ensuring proper storage of samples and reagents; Maintaining cleanliness and safety of the laboratory environment; Supporting laboratory staff in daily operations; Observing laboratory safety and infection control procedures at all times.

Qualifications and requirements Applicants must be suitably qualified Ugandans meeting the requirements of the LG Job Specifications and Description (2011) for the post of Laboratory Assistant.
