Mildmay Uganda's School of Health Sciences is seeking a Dean for its School of Nursing and Midwifery to provide academic and administrative leadership in health professions education and training. A senior leadership role at one of Uganda's trusted healthcare and health-professional-training institutions.

Founded in 1998, the organisation works across key impact areas including health systems strengthening, HIV/AIDS care and treatment, translational research, health professional training, orphans and vulnerable children, pandemic response, community engagement, and psychosocial and livelihood support. Through its School of Health Sciences, Mildmay Uganda is now seeking an experienced academic leader to serve as Dean of the School of Nursing and Midwifery.
About the role The Dean will provide strategic, academic and administrative leadership for the School of Nursing and Midwifery, championing excellence in health professions education, research and community engagement. Reporting to the leadership of Mildmay Uganda, the Dean will shape the school's vision, ensure the quality and relevance of its programmes, and foster an environment that supports students, faculty and staff to deliver compassionate, high-quality care.
Key responsibilities - Provide overall academic and administrative leadership for the School of Nursing and Midwifery. - Oversee curriculum development, programme quality assurance and accreditation processes. - Lead, mentor and support academic staff and faculty development. - Promote excellence in teaching, learning and clinical practice. - Foster research, innovation and partnerships that advance nursing and midwifery education. - Manage the school's resources, planning and budgeting effectively. - Represent the school and contribute to the strategic direction of Mildmay Uganda. - Uphold the values of compassionate, patient-centred care across all programmes.
Qualifications, skills and experience Candidates should hold advanced academic and professional qualifications in nursing and midwifery, with significant experience in health professions education and academic leadership. Strong managerial, interpersonal and communication skills, a commitment to quality and equity in health education, and the ability to engage with regulators, partners and communities are essential.
