Individual scholarships of 12-42 months covering monthly payments of ~EUR 992-1,400, travel, insurance and optional family/rent supplements for selected development-related postgraduate courses. Course-by-course windows run roughly August-October 2026 for the 2027/28 intake.

EPOS funds rigorously selected professionals from DAC-eligible countries to study internationally competitive master's and PhD courses at German universities closely linked to practice. Applications go directly to up to three chosen courses (listed in the official 2027/28 deadline brochure), never to DAAD itself, and selection runs from late October to March. Monthly stipends are EUR 992 for graduates and EUR 1,300-1,400 for doctoral candidates, plus health/accident/liability insurance, travel allowance and possible rent or family subsidies. Ugandan health professionals typically target courses such as International Health (Heidelberg), Public Health, Tropical Hygiene and hospital management programmes; exact deadlines differ per course, many falling September-October 2026.

Eligibility

Graduates from developing/emerging countries (Uganda on the eligible-country list) with a bachelor's (usually four years) and at least two years of professional experience, applying to listed EPOS master's/PhD courses.
