About the role Bishop Stuart University (BSU) is a faith-based Christian university founded in 2002 by the Ankole Diocese of the Church of Uganda, and fully accredited and chartered by the President of the Republic of Uganda in 2014. The University now seeks to recruit a competent and highly qualified Clinical Officer to contribute to the implementation of its 10-Year Strategic Plan (2025-2035) and the efficient operationalization of University Council policies.

The Clinical Officer will work within the University's health facility, providing clinical services to students, staff and members of the surrounding community. The role combines clinical practice with health promotion and supervision of junior health workers, and offers the opportunity to serve a university community while supporting the institution's broader mission of raising responsible and ethical graduates.

Key responsibilities Examination and Diagnosis: Examine, diagnose and treat patients for common ailments and injuries at the health facility; Treatment and Procedures: Carry out minor surgical procedures and manage medical cases; Patient and Community Health: Guide and counsel patients on health issues, implement preventive health initiatives and sensitize the community on health matters; Record Keeping and Referral: Collect and compile accurate clinical data, and filter and refer patients to specialised facilities when necessary; Supervision: Supervise and guide junior health workers in the performance of their duties; Health Promotion: Support the University's wellness programmes and public health campaigns.

Qualifications, skills and experience A Diploma in Clinical Medicine and relevant experience of at least four (4) years; Must be registered with the Allied Health Professionals Council; Strong clinical and diagnostic skills, good communication and interpersonal abilities, and a commitment to ethical, patient-centred care; Ability to supervise and mentor junior health workers; A professional, empathetic approach and the ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team.
