MUJHU (the Makerere University - Johns Hopkins University Research Collaboration) is a Ugandan non-profit research and care organisation based on Upper Mulago Hill, Kampala. For over three decades it has worked to prevent HIV infection in children and improve the health of women, children and families affected by HIV/AIDS, through research, training, prevention and care. About the organisation MUJHU is one of Uganda's longest-established research and care partnerships, bringing together Makerere University and Johns Hopkins University to advance clinical research, health training and community care. Its work spans HIV prevention and treatment, the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, maternal and child health, clinical trials and health systems strengthening, contributing both to national health outcomes and to the global evidence base on HIV/AIDS. The organisation runs dedicated research clinics and community programmes that serve families across Kampala and beyond. Current opportunities MUJHU regularly recruits clinical and research staff, including doctors, nurses, midwives, laboratory technologists, study coordinators, data managers and administrative officers. What the roles involve - Clinical staff, including doctors, nurses and midwives, provide direct patient care in MUJHU's research clinics and community programmes, with a strong focus on HIV care, prevention and maternal and child health. - Laboratory technologists support diagnostic services and the specimen processing that underpins the organisation's research and care work. - Study coordinators and data managers support the day-to-day running of clinical and epidemiological research studies, from participant recruitment and follow-up to data collection, quality assurance and analysis. - Administrative officers provide the operational, financial and human resource support that keeps the organisation running. Internships, volunteering and attachments In addition to paid positions, MUJHU offers internship, volunteer and student attachment opportunities, providing early-career health professionals and researchers with hands-on experience in a busy research and care environment.
