We are looking for a capable and careful Medical Lab Assistant to help keep our laboratory services running smoothly and safely.

About the role

The Medical Lab Assistant will provide essential support in the hospital laboratory, helping to receive and register specimens, prepare samples for testing, perform basic laboratory procedures under supervision, and maintain accurate records. You will work closely with laboratory technologists and other clinical staff to ensure that tests are carried out promptly, safely and accurately for every patient.

Key responsibilities

  • Receive, label and register patient specimens accurately
  • Prepare and process samples for laboratory testing
  • Perform basic laboratory procedures under the supervision of laboratory technologists
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, reagents and stock levels
  • Keep the laboratory clean, tidy and compliant with infection prevention standards
  • Record results and maintain laboratory registers and records
  • Follow quality control and biosafety procedures at all times

Job specifications
