Job Opportunity — Uganda Martyrs' Hospital (UMH), Diocese of Jinja

A newly established state-of-the-art Private Not for Profit (PNFP) teaching and research hospital in Jinja City, founded by the Catholic Diocese of Jinja.

Job Title: Orthopedic Officer (1 Position)

Department: Medical/Orthopedics | Reports to: Medical Superintendent

Main Purpose of the Job: To assess, diagnose, and manage patients with musculoskeletal injuries and conditions, providing both corrective and rehabilitative orthopedic care within the hospital.

Key Responsibilities: - Examine, assess, and diagnose patients with fractures, dislocations, sprains, and other musculoskeletal conditions. - Perform closed reductions, apply casts, splints, traction, and other immobilization techniques. - Assist surgeons during orthopedic operations and carry out minor procedures as per protocols. - Order and interpret relevant imaging (X-rays) and laboratory investigations. - Provide pre- and post-operative orthopedic care and monitor patient recovery. - Conduct physiotherapy guidance and rehabilitation referrals where needed. - Educate patients on injury prevention, bone health, and proper use of assistive devices. - Maintain accurate clinical records and HMIS reports. - Ensure orthopedic equipment and appliances are functional, maintained, and requisitioned in time. - Adhere to infection prevention and control standards.

Qualifications & Experience: - Diploma in Orthopedics from a recognized institution. - Must be registered with the relevant Allied Health Professionals Council and hold a valid practicing license.
